“Timeless” at Wei-Ling Contemporary and “Bright Young Things” at Wei-Ling Gallery

Wei-Ling Gallery will be celebrating its tenth year anniversary this month and in commemorating this milestone, the gallery will be holding 2 major exhibitions as well as publishing the ‘A Decade of Collecting’ book.

Set up by Lim Wei-Ling and Yohan Rajan 10 years ago, the gallery sits on one of the most unique buildings along Jalan Scott in Brickfields and the gallery has grown by leaps and bounds ever since and expanded with Wei-Ling Contemporary at The Gardens MidValley.

Since then, Wei-Ling Gallery has organized more than 100 exhibitions at both its galleries and to set the stone on this auspicious month, there will be 2 concurrent events running in September. The first is entitled ‘Timeless’ which will be held at the Wei-Ling Contemporary-The Gardens Mall space which will be gathering 10 established artists that the gallery represents.

This will be  the show where the artists will show their work which are introspective and reflective based on the title of the exhibition and to look forward to the future and what it holds. Those involved in this show include Anurendra Jegadeva, Ivan Lam, Choy Chun Wei, Yau Bee Ling, Chin Kong Yee, Kim Ng, Nor Azizan Paiman, Umibaizurah Mahir, Zulkifli Yusoff, Hamidi Hadi and Amin Gulgee.

Over at Wei-Ling Gallery is the exhibition entitled ‘Bright Young Things’ which will be featuring 10 artists who are emerging and are identified as the next generation of the artistic and creative. For this show, there is no specific theme and artists involved are free to demonstrate and express themselves through the media they are comfortable with.

The book ‘A Decade of Collecting’ is essentially a 200-page publication that will showcase some of the artworks that have been most compelling and remarkable collected in the last 10 years and is a fitting tribute to the support Wei-Ling Gallery had garnered from corporations and bodies as well as to the Malaysian art scene.
