Every other year, the Urbanscapes festival comes around where it celebrates the culture and arts of Malaysians throughout the 2 days and that is set to be bigger this year when Urbanscapes 2012 is held between November 24th and 25th.
Basically, Urbanscapes is a festival-style event where visual arts are demonstrated to the visitors as well as performances by little-known bands and established artistes in an integration of the various facets of Malaysian arts. It is the first and still the only user-generated creative arts festival which have been going strong since it first started in 2002.
For 2012, artistes who have confirmed their involvement include international superstart Yuna and Sigur Ros while there will also be performances by the likes of the Musical Sisters who are known for their folk harmonies. Sabahan singer-songwriter Guba will also be playing with hsi full band.
Other acts that are set to take the stage include Francis Wolf, Francis known for the eletro-acoustic sounds, Pastel Life which is the experimental music duo of Eff Hakin and Mohd Faliq while Darren Ashley will be playing out his easy-listening numbers too.
The organisers are planning Urbanscapes 2012 to be the largest and stretching to 2 days, it is going to be 2 full days of celebration and commemorating of Malaysian arts. Tickets are at RM87 for Saturday while RM237 for both days. Early bird tickets are already sold out. Yuna is expected to play a full concert on Saturday and Sigur Ros on Sunday while renowned mural artist Ernest Zacharavic is also planning something large at the show.
Being the 10th anniversary since Urbanscapes burst into the scene, it will be an exciting event for them Malaysian public and those visiting from other countries to get close with the vibrant and dynamic art scene of Malaysia.
