This 7 January 2012, the Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers will be holding the second Public Art Programme entitled ‘An Impression of Malaysian Art: Defining Events & Artist Groups’.
This will be the first of this unique and prestigious series where you will be able to be a part of this historic event to discuss and address questions in Malaysian Art that encompasses areas like its history, Malaysian artists and their activities, their contribution to the issues of Malaysia’s nationalism, modernity and identity and the influence of modern pioneers on current Malaysian artists.
This initiative is held by Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers to create awareness for the public to get close and personal with Malaysian Art. The speaker at the event are renowned art journalist Mr Ooi Kok Chuen, who has more than 70 art books and catalogues to his name and a recipient of the 1991 Australian Cultural Award, the 1989 Goethe-Institute Fellowship as well as the National Art Gallery Art Writer Award for 2003 and 2008 respectively. The Moderator for the night is none other than Pn Zanita Anuar, the Director of Museum Innovation, Museums Department Malaysia who is no stranger in the Malaysian art scene having been the National Art Gallery’s senior curator since 1995.
