If you are an aspiring photographer and is always finding ways to improve your artistic skills and mechanical aspects, then you might not want to miss the upcoming lecture by renowned photographer Michiko Kasahara. The event will be held on June 14, 2012 at the Shalini Ganendra Fine Art. The session will run for 2 hours from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at the gallery in Petaling Jaya. The lecture session is free of charge but you will have to RSVP by June 9, 2012 and if you are registered, you need to be at the gallery by 6.45pm on that day.
This will be part of the Vision Culture Lectures which started in January 2010 endorsed by the UNESCO Observatory Multidisciplinary Research in the arts.
Michiko is one of the most popular and distinguished photographers today where she has been involved in organizing many exhibitions. She is an established curator having been doing this in 1989 when she started her work at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. She would then move on to offer her services at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo for 4 years before returning to the Metropolitan Museum. She would then take up the post of Chief Curator and has been holding that position until present day. Since then, Michiko has been involved in many prominent shows that include ‘The Works of Contemporary Women Artists’ show, the ‘Alfred Stieglitz and his Contemporaries’ show and many others while she was also previously a guest curator for the 2004 ‘Out of the Ordinary/Extraordinary’
