The EQ Fine Arts is hosting a photography show currently entitled “The Fulfillment of Solitude” which were taken by His Royal Highness Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah. It is currently going on which started in 10 May and will go on until 31 May and will display the works of the late Sultan of Terengganu who was also known as one of the most renowned photographer in Malaya and Singapore back in the 1950s.
The late HRH Sultan Sir Ismail Nasiruddin Shah of Terengganu who was the Sultan Trengganu from 1946 to 1979 where he also was also His Majesty Yang Di Pertuan Agong from 1965 to 1970 was then very much renowned for his photography where his style and body of work was constantly being published in the media then.
His works were very much known then for their unique style and angle on the images captured where he was also recognized by the then Photographic Societies of Malaya and Singapore. He was an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society of United Kingdom (ARPS) and he also received the Excellence, Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique, Switzerland (EFIAP) when he was still an amateur photographer then.
In 1997, his works were displayed at the Galeri Petronas Kuala Lumpur and then at the Notices Gallery Singapore, 2 of the most established and prestigious galleries of both the countries respectively. In 2003, the EQ Fine Arts Gallery hold the ‘Tribute from a Sultan’ show where it was then reviewed and published at the Asian Art Newspaper and HALI (Islamic Art). The body of work the Sultan is known for is one which is unique in its own accord because of the fact that while many photographers take shots of the usual and common ways of life from the commoner’s point of view, this came from the angle of one with the highest accord, a royalty. It depicts the way things have changed in development of the country and in places he governed as a ruler, as a Sultan, as a king and as a Malaysian.
The show will be depicting 25 photographers by His royal Highness where you will get to see the most popular photos while some which are rarely seen too. A truly unique show which is exclusive and very rare. Viewing is by appointment only while admission is free. Call 03- 6201.0985 for appointments.
