Heritage in art
In the Malaysian art scene, the Galeri Prima has been around for quite a while now. It opened its doors in 1994 and has been actively hosting exhibitions ever since. Then, it was known as the NSTP Art Gallery. Covering art from across the country, the gallery today owns more than 6,000 pieces of artworks in its collection. In 2016, the gallery was given a new breath of life with a new name and more notably, a new building.
Today, Galeri Prima represents the epitome of Malaysia’s contemporary art where it provides the avenue for artists to showcase their works. At the same time, it is where art meets the community and the society. It has been playing a vital role in the development and growth of Malaysian art through collaborations, partnerships and other events to nurture aspiring artists as well as established ones.
