The Amir’s Painting Studio offers a wide range of art-classes. It is operated by Zainab, or Kak Zai with her husband Amirudin Ariffin. She was once with the Royal Malaysian Navy and has since retired and now focusing in her art. Kak Zai likes to paint landscapes and flowers of Malaysia and it is at the Amir’s Painting Studio that she and Amir teach art for students, beginners and those who want to express their artistic selves.
Amir himself is an artist where Kak Zai helped in managing the painting studio.
This is why the studio is the perfect place for anyone looking to learn art and creativity. The couple has been teaching art for more than 15 years now.
They started having the classes in Jalan Ritchie before moving to the National Art Gallery and now in Titiwangsa. Students who sign up for the beginner’s class can choose any medium to paint be it acrylic, oil or watercolor, among others. Students are able to learn the basic techniques of art here by improving what they have learnt previously and then the studio will help them applying to further studies.
Students are encouraged to establish their own style and type of painting and then they will be trained in drawing and color-mixing and it is remarkable that the Amir’s Painting Studio does have a lot of expatriate students. After learning the techniques and methods, they will usually produce work on Malaysian culture which are extremely good take-home skills for them.
