Rimbun Dahan is one of the most sought after art spaces in the country. Greenery and art
The gallery is housed within the 14 acres of land here in which there is a complete eco-system for the artist to fully fulfill the works. This is where Rimbun Dahan provides the space for selected artists to join in the residency programme. Throughout the course of the residency, the artist will produce a series of artworks inspired by the stay there. After the residency is over, the artist will have the works displayed at the exhibition space.
Over the years, the Rimbun Dahan programme has been participated by emerging artists going out to chart their spot in the art scene and also by established artists. This involves artists who are looking for an alternative space to find new inspiration and to get away from the usual routine to derive new works.
Rimbun Dahan is the brainchild of Hijjas Kasturi and his wife Angela. Hijjas is one of the most established and renowned architect in Malaysia where he is known to be one of the catalyst and most active art figure in Malaysia.
This is because of the Rimbun Dahan Artist Residency programme which is held at the 14 acre land in Rimbun Dahan. This is where many Malaysian artists have gained much exposure, experience and new techniques by working on their art work through the residency programme.
Where this is concerned, Rimbun Dahan is said to be responsible in producing artists with high quality art work and a reputation which is hard to match by others. An artist is said to be established if he or she has underwent the Rimbun Dahan residency programme.
The gallery in Rimbun Dahan is not a public gallery and is opened to the public on certain exhibitions or special events. Located at Kuang in Selangor, Rimbun Dahan has produced a wide range of Malaysian artists throughout its history through its widely popular Malaysia-Australia Artist Residency.
Apart from that, it also host the Dance Programme which is aimed at promoting the cultural performing arts in Malaysia
There have been more than 30 visual artists from the region who have come out from the residency programme in Rimbun Dahan that spans across many disciplines like Fine Art, literature, poetry, sculpture and others.
