Fergana Art and Whitebox @ Publika will be presenting the first solo art exhibition of Kamal Mustafa, a renowned and award-winning film director. The show is entitled Simulation and will be featuring 22 static and extended paintings from this artist.
Kamal has been involved and responsible for directing some of the most heart-warming commercials in the country where he will be presenting paintings based on human experience and combining this art form with new media in his own unique ways. The central emphasis of the works is on the construction of memory, history and knowledge and this is presented in a very exciting platform through Kamals own signature styles.
This show is very interesting in its own way as there is something called extended paintings where Kamal combines digital animation with still images which portrays his images in his own light. It will be quite a breakaway for the artist who is more renowned for his works in film and video although showing off his paintings is said to be returning to his traditional art form. Born in 1952, Kamal holds a degree in film from the prestigious Polytechnic of Central London where he has been involved in this media for more than 30 years before venturing into the fine arts full time recently.
