Group Exhibition – Doodle for Unity – 2nd September 2013 – 28th September 2013

The month of August and September is very important in Malaysia as it is when the country observes Merdeka and Malaysia Days respectively. Hence, it is not surprising to find many efforts and activities in the local art scene that promotes unity and to foster stronger Malaysian spirit among the people.

After all, what other ways are there that can put Malaysians from all walks of life together other than through culture and art, which Malaysia is so rich with. Furthermore, the 1MCAT (1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism) 2013 is in full force where the government, the public art galleries and many others are all involved with promoting art and culture.

As part of this effort, the Muzium Seni Asia in Universiti Malaya Kuala Lumpur is hosting a unique art exhibition entitled ‘Doodle for Art’ which is organized by Selangor FM with KEMAS (Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat) of Selangor. The theme for this show is ‘From Innocent to Art’ and despite being held in an institute of higher learning, it will involve mainly kindergarten children.

The interesting part about this show is that the kids used the art of doodling to express their love for the country and then the artists take the cue from there and create their own final art works. The artworks will be up for auction at a charity bazaar of this show.
Opening Hours: Mondays to Fridays – 9.00am to 5.00pm
