Noor Mahnun Mohamed has come through the ranks of the Malaysian art scene as one of the serious artists in recent times. She is one of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rimbun Dahan Artist in Residence programme in spectacular fashion and then moving on the further establishing herself as one of the leading contemporary artists in the country.
Her art education came through from Germany where she studied under Professor Arwed Gorella at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig and graduated with a Master in Fine Art. She would then be involved with Rimbun Dahan in 2000 for a year and 3 years later she would embark into another facet of her artistic career when she travelled to Florence in Italy where she was awarded the Italian Government Scholarship to study printmaking at the International School of Print and Graphic Il Bisonte.
2 years after that, (2005), she would travel to Sydney in Australia after she was awarded to be involved in the Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur Visual Arts Residency at the Gunnery Studios. With such a vast experience and remarkable record, it is no wonder that Noor Mahnun’s work clearly depict her travels and all that she has learnt throughout her life journey in art.
