First-ever live-streaming only fashion event at Digital Fashion Week Singapore

For those who love fashion design, the Digital Fashion Week Singapore or DFW 2012 is set to take centerstage later this month. This would essentially be the first live-streaming fashion design event which will see the integration of design and technology.

After all, runways and fashion have always been about exclusivity and certainly catered to the privileged few. With the DFW, it can now be easily accessible for anyone with a streaming internet access. The organisers of DFW is confident that it will garner international response through its live streaming technology where just about anyone could be on the so-called ‘front row’.

The DFW is different from the usual live streaming fashion shows as the latter is usually a live telecast while the DFW is all about the fashion without the need for a guest list or so.

This event will be aired completely live from October 20th to 22nd and it will be held at the Ritz-Carlton’s The Tent @ Millenia Pavilion.

This is where the event will come with a botanical backdrop where models and designers will be operating through an air-conditioned canopy. The project director of DFW, Charina Widjaja said that they are integrating e-commerce services and fashion where viewers could immediately order a piece of fashion they like at the show. And to provide the e-commerce services, it is none other than online fashion store Zalora. There will be 6 top designers from Singapore who will be showcasing their Spring/Summer 2013 collection at DFW Singapore which are Thomas Wee, Eugene Lin, Tze Goh, Pauline.Ning (by Pauline Lim), -J-A-S-O-N- (by JR Chand) and duo Johanna and Shu Juang, from OwnMuse.

With a mix of talents and the combination of new technology, the DFW will surely be a new way forward for fashion design while providing a whole new world of opportunities for designers to showcase their work.
